BT Scotland National Schools’ Gaelic Debate

The first Debate was held in Liniclate in 1999.  BT Scotland has been supporting the competition, which is for S4-6 fluent Gaelic-speakers, since then.  The Debate provides students with a wonderful opportunity to develop their fluency levels.  Many of the students who have participated in earlier BT Scotland Debate competitions have gone on to do well in various Gaelic related careers.  Not only does the competition help students develop research, debating, writing, reading and presentational skills, it also enables them to make friend with Gaelic-speaking students across Scotland.  The BT Scotland 2012 Debate also receives support from Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Comunn na Gàidhlig, MG ALBA, BBC Alba, Bòrd na Gàidhlig and the Management Review Group for Gaelic.
