Would you prefer to hold your meetings in Gaelic?

Why?
Gaelic speakers have naturally gone out of their way to speak English when a non-Gaelic speaker is in their midst. Many would say that this practise has accelerated the decline of the language and that it is the Gaels' willingness to speak English that leaves the Gaelic language in its current state. However, this situation has now changed thanks to new technology. Comunn na Gàidhlig has, with funding from Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Western Isles Community Economic Development, obtained 8 sets of simultaneous interpretation equipment which are available to organisations on loan for use at meetings, lectures, conferences etc.

How?
This equipment is very user friendly and each set includes 20 headsets. This means that up to 20 people who don't have a word of Gaelic can attend a Gaelic meeting or event and fully understand what is being said. This now means that there is nothing preventing groups from conducting their meetings in Gaelic. The equipment enables a simultaneous interpretation giving non-Gaelic speakers the opportunity to attend Gaelic meetings and fully participate in them without being disadvantaged in any sense.
Comunn na Gàidhlig can provide an interpreter on a chargeable basis or provide assistance with locating one.

A £100 deposit must be paid before the equipment is loaned out and there is a cost to non-community organisations.
If any of the equipment is damaged or lost while on loan the borrowing organisation will be liable for costs associated with restoring it to its original condition.

Where?
The sets of mobile simultaneous interpretation equipment are available on loan from:
