As part of Iomairt Ghàidhlig Iar Thuath Leòdhais, the youth group ‘Tàirneanaich’ have been busy over the last year organising events to fundraise for local charities. Amongst their events, they held a concert for the local group ‘Clann an Latha an dè’ and they made and sold baking in Shawbost school. They raised a total of £300. They recently presented a cheque of £150 to Macmillan Cancer Support who said:
‘Macmillan Cancer Support are over joyed by the support given by the young people in the area.’
A second cheque of £150 was presented to the charity Alzheimer Scotland who said:
‘We are thrilled to see the kindness of the young people in this area to the elderly.’
In the photo are some of the young people presenting the cheques to Christine Macleod from Macmillan Cancer Support and Katie Macpherson from Alzheimer Scotland. A number of the young people involved in the fundraising were not present at the tìme of presenting the cheques.
