The Iomairt is now inviting applications for grants from groups involved in Gaelic in the area. Applications may be submitted for up to £300 for projects which promote the language. The Small Grants Scheme is funded by prize money which Iomairt Ghàidhlig Uibhist a Deas agus Èirisgeigh won in the Gaelic Community of the Year 2011 competition. The Scheme is open to community groups, charitable groups and social enterprises that are involved in promoting Gaelic in South Uist and Eriskay.

Applications must be submitted by 15th November 2011. The applications will be assessed by a panel including representatives of the Iomairt and Comunn na Gàidhlig.
