4th June 2007
The Comunn na Gàidhlig Children's Football Tournament 2007 took place between 1030 and 1530 on Saturday 2nd June at the Bught Park, Inverness.
13 schools from throughout Scotland participated in the tournament with 22 5-a-side teams of children aged between p4 and p7.
Both of Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu's teams played against each other in the final and after a very closely fought match the school's blue team won 3 -2.
The event was organised by Comunn na Gàidhlig with assistance from Donald Macsween (cainnt.co.uk) who co-ordinated the fixtures, the Highland Council, Dwelly and Rachel Alcorn of AirSplaoid.co.uk, MacRitchie Highland Distribution, An Gàidheal Ùr, Sandy Fea Photography and the parents and volunteers who refereed during the tournament.
This is the second time the competition has been held following on from the success of the tournament held in Perth in June 2006 which saw Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu win for the first time.
Angus MacLeod, Development Co-ordinator with Comunn na Gàidhlig was involved co-ordinating the tournament:
"An event like this is very important in terms of encouraging Gaelic amongst children outwith the school. in addition to developing sport skills and providing a fund day out the children.
