Support for Sradagan groups throughout the country

This article was published in 2006 and the scheme is no longer running.

Youth groups throughout Scotland are benefitting from funding from Comunn na Gàidhlig with the youth initiatives scheme. This scheme provides funding for groups directly so that they are able to employ youth leaders who work with children in the medium of Gaelic.

The scheme is still open to applications and any youth group can access funding towards events and activities through the medium of Gaelic. With a simple application form and a short turnaround period, this scheme provides an opportunity for groups to organise new events through Gaelic and provides a revenue stream.

This scheme is open to all groups including Sradagan and any organisation can access funding provided they are intending to run activities using and helping Gaelic.

The following groups have accessed funding during the current financial year:

  • Sradagan an Rubha (Point Isle of Lewis)
  • Rionnagan an Rubha (Point Isle of Lewis)
  • Taigh Dhonnchaidh (arts and music centre)
  • Sradagan an Òbain (Oban)
  • Sradagan Loch a’ Bhraoin (Loch Broom)
  • Sradagan Obar Dheathainn (Aberdeen)
  • Sradagan Inbhir Pheofharainn (Dingwall)
  • Sradagan Gheàrr Loch (Gairloch)
  • Sradagan Mhalaig (Mallaig)
  • Sradagan Innis an Uillt (Meadowburn, Bishopbriggs)
  • Sradagan Chomar nan Allt (Cumbernauld)
