A Gaelic information day was held in Inverness City centre on Saturday the 29th of April 2006 where Gaelic organisations came together to raise awareness of the language amongst High Street shoppers.
The day was accompanied by the music of the Beltane Festival which is an annual traditional music and arts festival organised by 'Ceòl Beò' and many a tune and talented musician could be heard from the live stage on the High Street.
The information day was co-ordinated by Angus MacLeod, Development Co-ordinator for the Gaelic Language & Culture Plan for the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey area. He said:- "Around 3000 Gaelic speakers live in the city and raising awareness of the language amongst the wider community is one of the key objectives of the Plan."
