Sgoiltean Gàidhlig a Deasbad anns a' Phàrlamaid

25mh Samhain 2006

Tha na 4 sgioban a fhuair troimhe chun an dà chuairt mu dheireadh de Dheasbad Nàiseanta BT Alba a’ cur na sgilean deasbaid aca mu choinneimh an t-sluaigh ann an Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu, Diluain seo tighinn (an 27mh aig 7.00f) anns an Iar-Chuairt Dheireannach de Farpais na bliadhna seo.
B' iad Sgoil MhicNeacail, Sgoil Bhàgh a' Caisteil, Acadamaidh Dhrochaid an Easbaig agus Acadamaidh Inbhirpheofharain na ceithir sgioban shoirbheachail. Cuiridh na britheamhan an dà sgioba as fheàrr air adhart chun a' chuairt dheireannach a tha a' gabhail àite am bliadhna a-rithist ann am Pàrlamaid na h-Alba air Dimàirt an 28mh latha den mhìos. Thèid an Deasbad seo a chraoladh air Craoladh na Gàidheal aig 7.00 feasgair.

Tha BT Alba a-rithist nam prìomh mhaoineadairean air Deasbad na bliadhna-sa le taic £15,000. Thuirt Brendan Dick, Manaidsear Nàiseanta Alba "Tha comas conaltraidh na phrìomh sgile ann am beatha an duine agus sin an t-adhbhar a tha BT air taic a chuir ri Iomairt luach £10m, thairis air 3 bliadhna, airson cothrom a thoirt do dh'òigridh ann am Breatainn na sgilean agus comasan aca a leasachadh airson an dòigh conaltraidh aca thoirt air adhart. Tha ìre nan deasbadan anns an fharpais seo air dearbhadh gu bheil adhartas mhòr air a thighinn air comas labhairt agus èisteachd nan Gaidheil òga agus tha fìor chuairt dheireannach gu bhith againn ann am Pàrlamaid na h-Alba an ath sheachdain"

Thuirt Dòmhnall Martainn Cathraiche Chomataidh Stiùiridh an Deasbaid:
"Tha adhartas mhòr air a thighinn air an fharpais seo thairis air na 9 bliadhna a chaidh seachad. Tha ìre nan deasbadan air a bhith glè àrd am bliadhna agus tha sin na chomharradh gum bi cuairt dheireannach anabarrach mhath againn anns a' Phàrlamaid. Tha sinn a-rithist gu mòr an comain BT Alba airson an t-airgead a tha iad a' toirt dhuinn. Cha bhiodh e idir comasach dhuinn tachartas Gàidhlig a chur air dòigh a tha a-nis cho cliùiteach, as aonais taic BT. Bidh Togalach na Pàrlamaid na bhrosnachadh mòr dhan dà sgioba a gheibh àite anns a' chuairt dheireannach"

BT Gaelic Debate heads for the Parliament again

25th November 2006

The four successful teams from the first two rounds of the BT Gaelic Schools Debate will be demonstrating their debating and linguistic skills before an audience in the new Gaelic School in Glasgow this Monday (27th at 7.00pm) in the Semi-Final of the 2006 Debate.

The teams are from The Nicolson Institute Stornoway, Castlebay, Bishopbriggs, and Dingwall. Two teams will secure a place in the Final Debate which takes place in the Holyrood Parliament on Tuesday 28th November. The final will be broadcast live on Craoladh nan Gàidheal at 7.00 pm.

BT Scotland are again the main sponsors of the Debate providing sponsorship of £15,000. BT Scotland's National Manager Brendan Dick said "The ability to communicate effectively is the number one life skill and that's why BT has just launched its new £10m Better World Campaign, a three year initiative designed to ensure all young people in the UK get the skills and opportunities to improve the way they communicate. However, the quality of debate we've had so far demonstrates that these young Gaels are already developing and growing their speaking and listening skills and it's shaping up for a terrific final in the Scottish Parliament".

Donald Martin Chair of the Organising Committee said
"The Debate has made a great deal of progress over the past 9 years. The standard of the debates have been very high this year, an indication that the final should be a close one. We are again very much indebted to BT Scotland for their continuing sponsorship of £15,000. Without this level of support it would be impossible for us to have such a prestigious Gaelic event. The Parliament Building provides an inspirational backdrop for the Final which always brings out the best in both teams"
