Turas Gaoth Dobhair 2006

22mh Lùnastail 2006

gaothdobhair

Thàinig buidhnean deugaran bho Leòdhas, Beul Feirste, Machaire is Gaoth Dobhair còmhla an t-seachdain sa chaidh ann an Gaoth Dobhair, Dùn nan Gall.
Abair gu robh deagh spòrs aca – bha iad trang le tòrr cuir-seachadain is tursan. Bha iad a dèanamh ball-coise, aig ionad spòrs a togail rafts, aig Gleann Beithe is bha iad ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig na h-Alba is Gaeilge na h-Èirinn. Bha cèilidh, le tàlant mìorbhaileach, is disco aca cuideachd leis an DJ aca fhèin –turas trang da rìreabh!
Thuirt Fay NicDhiarmaid, Manaidsear Phròiseactan Òigridh aig CnaG, “Fhuair sinn cuireadh bho Ogras, buidheann òigridh Èirinn, a thighinn air turas a Dhùn nan Gall. ‘Se prìomh amas an turas seo gum faigheadh an òigridh blas den dualchas is cànain is cho coltach ri chèile ‘sa tha iad. Bu thoil leam taing a thoirt dhan a h-uile duine a chuidich leis an turas seo is dha na buidhnean a tha toirt maoineachadh dhuinn , Bòrd na Gàidhlig is Iomairt na Gàidhealtachd, as an aonais cha b’urrainn dhuinn tachartasan mar seo a thairgsinn dhan òigridh.
‘Se turas air leth a bha seo, chord e rinn is dh’ionnsaich sinn uile tòrr. Tha sinn an dòchas gun tig an aon bhuidheann air turas thugainne is gur e seo dìreach toiseach tòisichidh air iomadh turas eile eadar na dùthchannan againn a dheanas feum mòr dhan òigridh airson tuigsinn na ceangalan a tha eadarainn”

Gweedore Visit 2006

22nd August 2006

gaothdobhair

Groups of teenagers from Lewis, Belfast, Maghera and Gweedore met in Donegal last week.

It was an action packed visit with the students participating in various activities. They were at football, raft building, visited Glen Beithe as well as learning both Scottish and Irish Gaelic. There was a cèilidh, with amazingly talented contributors, where they learned dances from each country and a disco with their own DJ – an exhausting trip!
Fay McDiarmid, Youth Projects Manager for Comunn na Gàidhlig said, “This visit was arranged after we got an invitation from Ogras, the Irish youth organisation to visit Donegal. We wanted the youngsters to learn about the similarities and ties between our heritages and languages. I’d like to thank everyone who assisted with this trip including the organisations who fund our work, Bòrd na Gàidhlig and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, without whom we would be unable to offer such wonderful opportunities to the youngsters.
It was a fantastic trip which we all enjoyed and from which we learnt a lot .We hope that the groups from Ireland will return to visit us next summer and that this will be the start of an exchange programme which will benefit the youngsters of both countries.”
