Spòrs Gàidhlig is a social enterprise set up by CnaG which works throughout Scotland and creates opportunities for young people to use and learn about Gaelic in fun, positive, and supportive settings. We offer outdoor activities, residential camps, educational programmes and events, all through the medium of Gaelic.

If Gaelic is to be relevant and strong in the present day, young people must have opportunities to enjoy and take part in activities using the language. The positive association between Gaelic language activities and a young person’s language ability and tendency to use it is critical to the health of Gaelic in Scotland.

We are the only Gaelic organisation to hold an AALA Licence (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority) which is a legal requirement when delivering adventurous activities for young people, and we work closely with schools to deliver learning outcomes and assist with the delivery of their priorities. Our programmes are aligned with the Curriculum for Excellence and GIRFEC.

We operate on both a mobile and a residential basis; if you, your school, or your community group is interested in any of Spòrs Gàidhlig’s activities, we can arrange to come to your area and deliver a programme of activities or alternatively, you can check out our upcoming residential events.

Coinneach Rankin on a cliff face

Coinneach Rankin

I’m Coinneach Rankin and I’m an instructor with Spòrs Gàidhlig. I started on Spòrs Gàidhlig’s training scheme in October 2018. The things I love the most about this job are travelling all over Scotland getting to know new areas and communities, and providing truly memorable experiences to young people in Gaelic.

Martin Robertson

I’m Martin Robertson and I’m from Arnisdale near Glenelg. I am a trainee instructor with Spòrs Gàidhlig and I started on the training scheme in June 2025. My favourite thing about the job is developing my skills in new areas all the while providing brilliant opportunities for young people to use their Gaelic in new situations.
